Slag Handling

BEI removes hot slag from underneath furnaces using two methods according to the plant design. We manage ladle slag, waste material, used bricks, skulls, tundish, ladle pots, and emergency blocks from melt shops to recovery plants.

A — Pot Carrying

Using special slag pot carriers, the slag is poured directly into the pot from underneath the furnace where it is then taken to a nominated tipping station to be cooled. The cooled slag is then transported to the metal recovery plant.

Slag Pot Carrier (SPC): Transport the prepared empty slag pots from the cooling area to the designated furnace locations; also Transport the filled slag pots to the Slag Yard

Loader with tyre protection chains: Remove remaining slag underneath the furnace and leveling of pot rooms floor using loaders and dumpers to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

Dumpers: The slag collected from underneath furnaces by loaders is transported by dumpers to the cooling bunkers

B — Under Furnace Digging

Using special loaders, the slag is taken from under the furnace after tipping and transported to cooling bunkers, then taken to the metal recovery plant.
